Cal Anderson Park is a great place to visit during these warm months. Formerly an above-ground, fenced-in reservoir, the city transformed the space into a public space complete with fountain, playground, and lots of grass to do with what you will.
The folks over at VRSeattle have posted some QuickTime VR "virtual" shots of the park. They've got plenty of other nice VRs of Washington up there, if you're looking for a virtual tour of the area.

Seattle seems like a nice place to live. How did you end up moving from the southeast to the northwest? That's a big change isn't it?
It is a nice place to live. It ended up being work. I graduated from college and found work in the tech sector up here, so we decided to move.
I certainly miss some of the people, places, and food (BBQ, sweet tea, grits, waffle house) of the southeast but Seattle and the Pacific Northwest has a lot to offer (mountains, water, culture/arts/movies/music, people).
And the weather's not too bad, so long as you're not unhappy with it being cloudy for most of the winter. :)
