I've tried to use Twitter, the reported panacea of all things "what are my friends up to?". But I can't seem to find any of my friends' handles, in order to add them to see what they're up to, or for them to see what I'm up to.
Which brings me to the question: if you twitter something that no one reads, are you just wasting time?

Zoinks! between Myspace, Facebook, LinkIn, and MSN Spaces, there is no way i have time for another site. especially if i'm expected to update it everytime i do something else...
"In the bathroom"
"back from the bathroon"
"cracking my knuckles"
"drinking water"
where does the madness end!

"irwando" of course is on the Twitter, though I can't say I get it yet.
ddvelin: I know, after a while, will people be too busy updating their numerous online personas to actually participate in real life? Ah, but technology may have a solution there, too: as you walk around with your cell phone/PDA, it automatically knows where you are (GPS + Maps + user annotations), and twitters for you. Has that already been done?
irwando: I should have guessed. Mine's zorbadgreek, in case anyone else is wondering. If only there were a good search engine, or a "twitter" field on sites like Facebook.
the automation factor of the pda/phone would be cool, but it definately has that Big Brother feel that will make a lot of people uncomfortable. sometimes it's nice to not be found! ;)
